At the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, the Flemish presence is remarkably broad. Lukas Dhont competes with Coward, a 1916 war film about two soldiers who each escape reality in their own way, for which Angelo Tijssens co-wrote the screenplay and Frank Van den Eeden handled the cinematography. Wannes Vanspauwen and Pol De Plecker have their world premiere in the Quinzaine des Cinéastes with Pithead, while Arwen Aznag's animated film Photograph of an Insane Woman to Show the Condition of Her Hair has been selected for La Cinef. Brecht Debackere's Nostalgia for the Future and the restored Seagulls Die in the Harbour are included in Cannes Classics, and producer Roxanne Sarkozi represents Flemish talent at Producers on the Move.
